Embarking on the egg donation journey with Indian Egg Donors is a rewarding and life-affirming experience that helps intended parents fulfill their dreams of parenthood. We understand that the process may seem overwhelming for first-time donors or those feeling uncertain. Rest assured, we collaborate with leading reproductive endocrinologists to provide clear and thorough explanations of all medical procedures involved in egg donation. If you are considering participating in the Indian Egg Donors egg donation program, here’s an overview of what to expect at each stage.
Upcoming Doctor Appointments:
Once you proceed with egg donation, you’ll participate in 4-8 appointments with your doctor. These appointments are typically scheduled early in the morning or occasionally on weekends. Suppose you’re traveling or the reproductive clinic is far from your home. We can arrange 2-3 appointments at a nearby monitoring clinic for your convenience. After being approved as an egg donor, your initial screening at the doctor’s office ensures that you are in good health and prepared for the donation process. This first appointment, typically scheduled on Day 3 of your menstrual cycle, may involve:
During the egg donation cycle, higher doses of egg-maturing hormones are used to stimulate the maturation of multiple eggs—usually 8-15 additional eggs—prepared for retrieval.
We maintain a secure and comprehensive egg donor database with over 1,000 pre-screened profiles, including:
3 to 4 Weeks:
After receiving medical clearance, the in-house IVF clinic at Indian Egg Donors will create a schedule for you and the egg donation recipient. Your care coordination team will help you with appointments, travel arrangements, medication guidance, and anything else to ensure a successful egg retrieval. The full donation schedule typically spans 2-3 weeks of daily hormone injections. During this period, local morning appointments will monitor the effects of the medication through blood tests and ultrasounds.
The donor and recipient’s cycles must be synchronized to begin the egg donation cycle. Egg donors will take birth control pills for about 10 days to align their cycles with the recipient’s.
After the third week of the donor’s cycle, they will start daily self-injecting hormones like Lupron (Leuprolide Acetate Injections) for approximately 10 days. This medication slows the menstrual cycle, and egg donors are closely monitored with vaginal sonograms and blood tests to measure follicle growth.
Indian Egg Donors place high importance on genetic screening. During this process, a board-certified geneticist will thoroughly review your family’s genetic history. This includes creating a family tree and generating a comprehensive genetic history report. Rest assured, your family and medical history will remain confidential, and we will screen for common genetic diseases during your in-person medical examination.
Note: Indian Egg Donors prioritizes your privacy and respects your decision to share or not share your egg donation experience with family or friends.
After completing the Lupron Injection series, egg donors will administer injections of fertility hormones such as GONAL-F® (Follitripoin Alfa) or FSH (Follicle Stimulating Hormone) for the next 8-10 days to stimulate egg follicle growth. This phase typically lasts for 2-3 weeks, with hormone injections given via small needles in the thigh or abdomen. The eggs not retrieved for donation will naturally be shed during the menstrual cycle.
Note: Indian Egg Donors prioritizes confidentiality and respects your decision to disclose your egg donation journey.
The eggs are ready for retrieval when the leading follicles reach 18-20 mm in size and the estradiol (E2) hormone level rises. After about two weeks of hormone treatment, the eggs are considered mature.
Preparation:
Before the retrieval, an HCG injection is administered to prepare the donor’s ovaries for egg release. The egg retrieval procedure takes about 30 minutes and is done under light sedation. During this procedure, eggs are aspirated vaginally using a long needle, which is guided by ultrasound to minimize scarring.
Post-Procedure:
After the retrieval, the donor can return home with a friend. It is recommended to take the rest of the day off to rest. Donors are usually informed about the outcome of the procedure, such as pregnancy results, about one month after the retrieval, when the recipient’s parents or gestational carrier are informed.
At Indian Egg Donors, we ensure that the entire egg donation process is smooth, supportive, and respectful.
Indian Egg Donors is dedicated to providing comprehensive care and a supportive environment throughout your egg donation journey, from preparation to recovery.
